The Great Migration is one of nature's most awe-inspiring spectacles, and this carefully curated 7-day luxury safari places you at the very heart of the action. Beginning in the vibrant safari town of Arusha, you will journey through the baobab-studded landscapes of Tarangire National Park, home to some of Africa's largest elephant herds and a remarkable diversity of birdlife. From there, you venture deep into the Serengeti — spending three full nights in prime migration territory where over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the endless plains in search of fresh grazing. Expert guides position you for dramatic river crossings, predator-prey interactions, and sundowner moments that define the African wilderness. Your journey culminates at the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's largest unbroken caldera, teeming with lion, buffalo, rhino, and flamingo-lined soda lakes. Throughout the trip, you stay in handpicked luxury lodges and tented camps that blend seamlessly into the landscape, offering world-class cuisine, attentive service, and panoramic views of the savanna. Your Journey, Day by Day
7 carefully curated days across Arusha, Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater
Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where your safari guide meets you with a warm welcome. Transfer to your luxury hotel at the foot of Mount Meru, surrounded by lush coffee plantations. Enjoy a welcome dinner and a comprehensive safari briefing to prepare you for the adventure ahead.
Day 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive south through Maasai steppe country to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab trees and enormous elephant herds. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, where animals concentrate during the dry season. Watch elephants bathing, giraffes browsing, and tree-climbing lions lounging in the branches.
Day 3
Tarangire to Central Serengeti
Rise early and journey northwest through the Great Rift Valley and into the Serengeti ecosystem. Cross the Ngorongoro Highlands and descend through the Serengeti's eastern gate. Your first game drive through the Seronera Valley — the park's wildlife-rich heartland — reveals lion prides, leopards in sausage trees, and vast herds of herbivores stretching to the horizon.
Day 4
Serengeti — Migration Tracking
A full day dedicated to tracking the Great Migration. Your guide uses real-time intelligence from the Serengeti's network of rangers and pilots to position you where the action is. Depending on the season, witness massive herds on the move, dramatic predator hunts, or thundering river crossings at the Mara or Grumeti rivers. An optional early-morning hot air balloon safari offers a once-in-a-lifetime aerial perspective.
Day 5
Serengeti — Deep Wilderness Exploration
Explore the Serengeti's more remote sectors today. Drive to the Moru Kopjes to see ancient Maasai rock paintings and search for black rhino in one of their last strongholds. In the afternoon, visit a Maasai boma on the park boundary to learn about the pastoralist culture that has coexisted with wildlife for centuries. Return to camp for a final Serengeti sunset.
Day 6
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Depart the Serengeti and drive to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping en route at Olduvai Gorge — the 'Cradle of Mankind' — where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered. Arrive at your lodge perched on the crater rim with breathtaking views 600 meters down to the caldera floor. Enjoy an evening at leisure, soaking in the panorama.
Day 7
Ngorongoro Crater & Departure
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater at dawn for a spectacular half-day game drive on the caldera floor. This natural amphitheater supports over 25,000 large animals, including the Big Five, in an area of just 260 square kilometers. Spot black rhino grazing near Lake Magadi, prides of lion on the open grasslands, and flocks of flamingos painting the soda lake pink. Ascend from the crater after lunch and transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey.
